Net Migration

Births, deaths and migration make up the components of population change. A measure of the movement of people, net migration is total in-migration less out-migration to an area. A positive net migration value represents more people entering the geography than leaving it, while a negative value means more people are leaving the area than entering it. Favorable net migration rates can be a positive factor in economic development as it relates to population growth, quality of life, and bringing talent into the labor force.
