Entrepreneurs’ Edge: Perfecting Your Business Pitch

Presented by:  Wisconsin Innovation Network (WIN)
Location:  Comfort Inn & Suites   (5025 County Highway V, DeForest)
Time: 1:30pm registration and networking; 2:00pm program with reception to follow

What type of startup business are you? What do investors need to hear from entrepreneurs in an executive summary or an “elevator pitch?” Who should consider joining an angel group – and why?

Those questions and more will be examined at the Tuesday, May 21 meeting of the Wisconsin Innovation Network in DeForest as part of WIN’s new “Entrepreneurs’ Edge” project. Investors and other business startup experts will share best practices, with some entrepreneurs getting the chance to practice their pitches in front of those mentors.

Entrepreneurs’ Edge will introduce entrepreneurs to what investors need to know when reviewing potential early stage investments. Program elements include interactive segments on “Sharpening your bright idea,” “What type of ‘trep are you?” and elements of a good business plan. Edge presenters will include early stage investor and startup experts to be announced.

After hearing about best practices, selected entrepreneurs will make a 90-second pitch in front of a live audience – followed by constructive feedback. This format is similar to the annual “Elevator Pitch Olympics” at the Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium.

The event will also feature a presentation on the work of the Wisconsin Angel Network and how high-net-worth individuals can consider getting involved in angel investing through one of Wisconsin’s angel networks or funds.
