In honor of its 90th anniversary, WARF is hosting a series of talks focused on elements of the cycle of innovation: research, discovery, commercialization and investment. All events in the series are free and open to the public. They will be held in the H.F. DeLuca Forum at the Discovery Building from 4 to 5 p.m. and be followed by a reception.

At the November 18 WARF Essential Topic Series event, Brad Schwartz, CEO of the Morgridge Institute for Research, will moderate a discussion between Carl Gulbrandsen, managing director of WARF, and Marsha Mailick, UW-Madison vice chancellor for research and graduate education.

  • Must have a project idea with some work complete
  • Any technology or market segment (life science / medical projects encouraged to attend)
  • Not-for-profit ideas not ruled out but must be capable of forming a sustainable business model
  • Project idea must be potentially capable of creating Wisconsin jobs in the future
  • Project cannot be incorporated
  • Free event, however no funding for your project will be provided

The MBU Breakfast Series: Recruiting and Retaining Business in Wisconsin

The purpose of Maranatha Baptist University’s Business Breakfast Lecture Series and Economic Breakfasts is to give the community the opportunity to gain knowledge on current, relevant, and interesting business topics and to expose our business students to the surrounding business community. Each breakfast features a guest speaker, compelling topics, and a brief introduction to MBU.

The November 11 MBU Breakfast Series will feature a panel discussion on recruiting and retaining business in Wisconsin, with guest speakers Rebecca Kleefisch, Lt. Governor of Wisconsin; Mark Hogan, CEO of Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation; Kurt Bauer, President/CEO of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce; and Kim Erdmann, Executive Director of Watertown Economic Development Organization.

Evansville I&E Club: The Science and Savoring of Beer

Three special guest speakers will address the business of beer at the Nov. 11 meeting of the Evansville Area Inventors & Entrepreneurs Club.

The science of suds is the focus of Rick Cole’s new business, Midwest Hop and Beer Analysis. His business is one of a kind in the Midwest. The celebration of suds is the endeavor of Tom Calley and Keith Hennig, who are developing a one-of-a-kind commemorative beer for Evansville’s 150th anniversary in 2016.
