Population
Our population has experienced steady growth over the last 10 years, reflecting the draw of our region’s economic assets and quality of life. Growing at a rate higher than the national average, our regional population surpassed 1 million in 2010.
Population is projected to increase by more than 26% by the year 2035, just above the national growth rate and well above the statewide rate. Dane County and Sauk County are expected to experience population growth rates of 34% and 30%, respectively, between 2010 and 2035.
As we continue to grow in population, so does our diverse economic base and entrepreneurial workforce. It’s an exciting time to live in the Madison Region, and our population trends illustrate that people thrive here.
